Fahrenheit To Celcius

There are different scales in measuring temperature namely Celsius, Fahrenheit, Rankin and Kelvin. The most widely used out of the four is Celsius and Fahrenheit. Fahrenheit was proposed by Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit a German physicist in 1724. Today, Fahrenheit has been replaced by Celsius however it is still used in the United States. Celsius was developed by Anders Celsius, a Swedish astronomer, in 1742. It was previously called centigrade but was changed to Celsius on 1948. The change to Celsius was part of the metrication process wherein the SI metric system was introduced. Since there are scales in measuring temperature, it is handy to know how to convert fahrenheit to celcius ?

The formula to convert Fahrenheit to Celsius is as follows: [°C] = ([°F] − 32) × 5⁄9. On the Fahrenheit scale, 32 degrees Fahrenheit is the freezing point of water and 212 degrees Fahrenheit is the boiling point. This makes the freezing and boiling points of water 180 degrees apart. Therefore, one degree is 1⁄180 of the interval between the boiling point and the freezing point. On the Celsius scale, 0.01 degrees Celsius is the freezing point and about 99.974 °C for the freezing point. This also makes the freezing and boiling points of water 100 degrees apart. This formula might be a bit difficult if one is pressed for time and does not have a scratch paper to compute on. Thankfully, there are web sites in the internet that offer converters from Fahrenheit to Celsius and vice versa and most of these web sites are free of charge. One can also convert to Kelvin or Rankin. Here are some web sites that offer free converters: www.albireo.ch/temperatureconverter, www.calculateme.com and www.onlineconversion.com/temperature.htm. These converters are very easy to use as and as simple as clicking a button.

The easiest way of converting any fahrenheit value to the corresponding celcius value is by applying the standard formula of conversion. For example, if we have the value as 41 fahrenhiet and we have to convert it into celcius, then we have to put the value F = 41 in the formula. After calculation we have the celcius value found to be 5 degree celcius. So, in this way we can carry out the conversion. Some calculators are equipped with the formula which can directly do the conversion. So, we can also convert the values directly by the calculator if available. That will be more time saving.
